This is not the right time to reopen land borders – Nana Addo

In the wake of fears of a possible spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo kicks against the reopening of Ghana’s land borders. Thus, Ghana’s land borders remain closed until further notice. 

Addressing the nation on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, the president said the decision forms part of the government’s efforts at preventing or curtailing an imminent fourth wave of COVID-19 in Ghana. He, however, used the opportunity to once again reiterate the need for citizens to continue adhering to the covid-19 safety protocols. 

He also advised Ghanaians to take the covid-19 vaccine as they are safe and would protect them from the virus, whiles debunking various rumours about the vaccine.
