Today we have on our spotlight feature, Kandyboy. His birth name, OWUSU ANDY and Kandyboy is his stage name.
“I have had a lot of interviews where people ask me why Kandyboy? Yeah, it sounds a little bit funny but it’s simply Kofi Andy merged .. on the other hand, the name is self-explanatory when you listen to my music.”
Kandyboy is in his final year at the KNUST Kumasi campus. He is an Agribusiness management student.
“my journey as a musician started very early and younger.. started as a drummer and later switched to trumpet and now multi-player I mean all in one .. At BS4 I was playing for artists like Ernest Opoku, Selina Boateng etc.. yeah I started as a church boy yeah I’m still the church you knew. fast forward I am now Afrofusion/afrobeat/highlife artist” he told Miss Sabina in an interview.
Moreover, Kandyboy has been working behind the scenes for so long. He is the backbone of some hit songs he won’t disclose due to agreements. Kandyboy has also worked with renowned producers like Bassey mix, Kaywa, Tubhani Music and so on.
He has also worked with legends like Pat Thomas, Gyedu Blay Ambuley, Flowking Stone and many more. Now back to his records, Andy has songs out which featured KUNTA KINTE (of Bradez fame), Flowking Stone, just to mention but a few.
However, Kandyboy is now entering mainstream music full time and the transition is rapid.
Finally, it is unarguable to say Our KNUST boy is doing the Most.
