Andre Ayew wins first league title with Al Sadd

Ghana Black Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew came off the bench to score two goals in the 62nd and 93rd minutes respectively as his side won with an 8-2 scoreline away from home.

The win confirmed Al Sadd as champions of the Qatar Stars League with four games to spare. The win over Al Ahli saw Javi Garcia’s side move 10 points clear of second-placed Al-adújalo, making it mathematically impossible for their rivals to usurp them with three matches left.

The Black Stars captain who joined Al Sadd as a free agent in July 2021 from Swansea City-based in England, has now won two trophies with the Asian giants.
Ayew won his first trophy in October 2021 after a penalty shootout victory over Al-Rayyan in the Emir Cup Final.

The 32-year-old made a bright start to life in Qatar, scoring seven goals in his first six matches for Al Sadd after his signing. The former Swansea City star has now scored 14 goals after making 17 appearances for Al-Sadd SC in the Qatari Stars League this season.

He will now hope to win the Asian Champions League with Al Sadd next season. Despite the abysmal performance of the Black Stars, Ayew returned to Al Sadd and has since continued with his goal-scoring form.

Unfortunately for Ghana, Ayew will not be available for next month’s World Cup play-off against Nigeria due to suspension after receiving a straight red card in Black Stars’ last game against Comoros in the African Cup Of Nations.
