2022 Matriculation Ceremony For KNUST Freshmen

The matriculation ceremony was initially scheduled for Tuesday, 8th February, 2022. However, it was later postponed as a result of UTAG’s strike.
The revised date for the matriculation was yesterday, Tuesday, 8th March 2022. Nonetheless, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all official ceremonies of the university were conducted via its virtual platforms. So students joined the Livestream of the ceremony via YouTube.

The moderator for the ceremony was Mr. James Kwasi Obreko, on behalf of the chairman and members of the university council. He commenced the ceremony by welcoming all freshmen to the university.
The opening prayer was said by the Catholic chaplain of the university. After which the university anthem was sung by the university basic school band. The registrar, Mr. Andrews K. Boateng administered the matriculation oaths.

The vice-chancellor in the person of Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson later gave her matriculation address.
She made mention of a lot of useful information which will guide the newly admitted student throughout their stay in the university. She noted that out of 70,156 applicants, the university has so far admitted 23,329 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Made up of 13,955 males (59.8%) and 9,374 females (40.2%) respectively.

Students were reminded that the university is being governed by rules and regulations which can be found in the student’s guidebook.
The whole matriculation ceremony was a success. The closing prayer was said by the Protestant chaplain. Students were required to visit http://matriculation.knust.edu.gh to take their matriculation oath.
