Russia led by Putin for over a month now, has attacked Ukraine because they feel the threat that will be posed to them when Ukraine joins NATO will be great. They believe NATO is a direct rival to the Russians. There have been many back and forths concerning whether Putin should call off the military attack or to continue his undue military invasion into Ukraine, which has caused so many deaths, too many destructions of properties, too many displacements of Ukrainians, who never had it in mind to be refugees in foreign lands.
The whole world has talked against this act of Putin but he seems not to care, as he believes what he wants from the Ukrainians has not been fulfilled by them. There are times when missions to rescue Ukrainian citizens have succeeded and many other times, where the Russian troops hijacked the mission of rescue and either bombed the hiding places of the Ukrainians or better still, held those that have tried to escape as captives when they are caught in the process of taking refuge in nearby countries.
Not long ago, there were many alleges that, the troops of Russia are backing off and withdrawing from top cities in Ukraine: Kyiv and Chernihiv, which was thought to be as a result of a negotiation that went on between delegations from Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul, Turkey. It also came about that, there was a probability of Putin and Zelensky to have a meeting after the delegations, which is yet to be realized, as nothing about the meeting of these two presidents has been heard of.
Just recently, Mateusz Morawiecki, the Prime Minister of Poland, told CNN that he believes that, the Russian troops who were thought to be withdrawing from Ukraine are aiming to have about one-third of Ukraine under their command so that, when they are to go into negotiations, they will have a bigger hand in whatever will be negotiated. He has pleaded that; Russia must be stopped before they do any further harm to Ukraine. He has called for stricter sanctions against the Russians so that they put a stop to their invasion in Ukraine.
