Schools, as a matter of fact, University, as the name implies, is a place where there is wholesome equipment for students for living in the outside world after school. There are a lot of things that are learnt aside from the academic work, the focus of schools.
Universities are places to gain and develop a career path, get and build a social life, build beliefs, and get exposed to the world, as there are a lot of diversifications in universities; from gender to age, races to belief systems and many other diversifications.
KNUST, the best university in Africa and the 14th best worldwide, is doing marvellously well in grooming its students and churning out graduates, that the world changes with their useful thoughts. Various activities range from academics to the very last need to create a complete graduate at the end of their program of study.
KNUST-Obuasi campus, not created long ago, contributes to the greatness and achievements of the best university in Africa. There are a lot of activities that are either organized by the school, the SRC or the departments, all to produce useful graduates for the society.
Since the beginning of the 2022/2023 academic year, so many programs have been organized on the Obuasi campus: Start Right seminar, that equipped the students with the steps to take to achieve greatness in their academic endeavours.
Another program organized by the KCC to educate the students on their social relationships on campus, balancing their academic life with their social life and also giving them tips on becoming great students. Another program by the Africa Youth for Development in collaboration with the SRC exposed the students to a seminar that gave students insight into being the best of themselves in all aspects of their lives.
There was a wellness program organized to enhance the health of students on campus; students were screened and engaged in activities to improve their health.
During this weekend, there will be a couple of activities to continue KNUST’s aim of grooming their students into great graduates for the job market. The SRC Electoral Commission organizes
ASPIRING STUDENT LEADERS CONFERENCE, come this Saturday, May 7, 2022, to give students the knowledge and equip them with the skills needed in being good student leaders and also initiate them into the future leaders of the world after university. Certificates, Organization Membership cards and educational books are part of the packages at the conference.
On Sunday after the social grooming of students on Saturday, there will be a Christian service, SCC, on campus to bring all Christian students together and satisfy the religious aspect of their lives. Sunday will be climaxed with the State of the SRC Address, later in the evening, at 4 pm, to update the student populace on the position of the Obuasi campus SRC.
All these programs to be held during the weekend in one way or the other, are satisfying aspects of the life of students, aside from the academic work that brought them to the university. There are many other activities in the pipeline, that will keep grooming the students and after their degree program, make them useful to themselves, their families, their immediate communities, Ghana and the world at large.
